Shelby & Patrick’s DIY Rustic Wedding

Shelby and Patrick exemplify how putting a small collection of handmade details together can create a beautiful setting for a wedding without breaking the bank. There’s nothing showy or over-top-here; just a happy couple surrounded by lovely things in the great outdoors of Tennessee. We love the bright pops of coral-y pinks and bright blues that add a bit of fun their rustic-themed day.

Let’s get to know Shelby and Patrick:

How did the two of you meet? Patrick worked with my mom and my mom fell in love with him! Every day she would come home from work and talk about Patrick and how great he was. She finally convinced me to go to work with her and I met him that day.

What was your first date like? We walked along the marina in Oak Ridge and talked for hours! He sang “I don’t want this night to end” by Luke Bryan and we slow danced under the stars while he sang to me.

How did he propose? Well, the day before he proposed, hwent and bought me stuff for a nice bath. He also bought me a dress and scarf from “Tommy Hilfigher”. The next day started off with breakfast in bed. He also had planned (with my sister) a surprise for me scheduled at 12 o’clock. I had no clue what they had planned.

Did you have any DIY projects? If so, what? Where did you get the ideas? Would you do it again? We had tons of DIY projects! Most of our ideas came from looking at ideas on Pinterest and tweaking them to make them fit us. Our biggest project was decorating mason jars to sit on the tables with candles in them. We would definitely do everything we did for our wedding all over again!

Hali & Rob’s Traditional DIY Church Wedding

Oooh, we have a church wedding today! We know many of you are looking for ideas and inspiration for ceremonies held in houses of faith so we’re very excited to share Hali & Rob’s beautiful day.

Held in the Christ The King Catholic church in Nashville, Rob and Hali created an elegant and joyful day for themselves and their guests. They show us that just a handful of handmade details is all it really takes to add a bit of spark and a lot big personality to one’s wedding. That’s a lesson we love to share with all of our DIY Bride readers.

Well done, you two!

Laura + Keith’s DIY Country Barn Wedding

For this beautiful Friday, we’re showcasing a DIY barn wedding from Gray Photography. Laura + Keith collected all the mismatched tables and chairs for their reception from Craigslist for a year. And with major help from the family, they were able to completely re-finished and decorate the barn, including growing their own moss, flowers, and gourds used for the wedding!

Something neat to share: amidst all the tables Laura + Keith had collected, one in particular was super special to the family. And that’s because one grandfather of theirs was born on that special kitchen table!

Great job on the awesome barn decor and much congratulations to Laura + Keith!

Brittany + Bryan’s Country Chic Wedding

So last week we had a surprise wedding.  And this week we have a wedding surprise!  The kind of surprise that might the only thing that could compete with the happiness of walking toward your honey knowing you are to be the happiest people in the world for the day.  Star Noir Studio was there to not only capture all of the fab rustic little details, but a super special first look that will warm your heart and have you joining the heartwarming smiles and butterfly kicks that Brittany and Bryan share.

From the bride, When asked about the special details of her wedding day:

Everything was pretty much DIY- a lot of the ideas came from Pinterest, Etsy & Susan (family friend who took care of decor coordination). DIY is a lot of work but I’d do it again- all the little touches had much more meaning. We also found out that we were pregnant on our wedding day!

You have to love Bryan’s emotional reaction to the best wedding day surprise ever!

Thanks Star Noir Studio for capturing this awesome family style (and family to be style) wedding! Congratulations Brittany and Bryan on your beautiful wedding and your bundle of of joy!
