For 2018 weddings, simplicity and personality collide to create the hottest trends for couples and their guests. While anything really goes for a wedding day to remember, incorporate a few swoon-worthy on-point details to take the event to the next level.
Think organic for beautiful inspiration. Recycled papers for invitations, flowing fabrics that blow in the wind and wildflower inspired floral arrangements bring a natural wonder to the day.
Modernity isn’t lost, however. Go big for the reception with an array of music, technology touches to liven up the celebration and a dinner that leaves no one unsatisfied.
Start planning now, because 2018 weddings are going to be simply, and unapologetically, #IDoGoals.
Fancy Florals
According to Brides Magazine, ‘organic’ bouquets will continue to be the perfect choice for the wedding party. An organic bouquet has nothing to do with the cleanness or purity of the flowers—this isn’t about pesticides like organic produce. An organic bouquet is simply arranged…deliberately. The look embraces a shabby chic vibe. This type of bouquet is reminiscent of girlhood and picking flowers from the meadow and creating a simple sweet bouquet. The look is classic, sweet and doesn’t look pre-arranged. Each bouquet may be structured differently.
And the Envelope Says…
Wedding invitations have traditionally been designed on thick elegant cardstock with swirling calligraphic fonts. Between the invitation and the RSVP card is always the obligatory small sheet of tissue paper. Save the trees and the money for a stamp, because those traditional invites are slowly being virtually replaced. Digital wedding invites are becoming the trend. While many couples still embrace the cardstock, more are using digital invites for shower invites, rehearsal dinner invitations and bachelor/bachelorette parties. In an article for Slate, Farhad Manjoo wrote that if he had to re-do his own wedding, e-vites would go out to everyone! Although, he noted that Emily Post disagrees with the new virtual trend…Post, it seems, pronounces emailed invitations to be too informal for a wedding. You be the judge. But if you do choose the traditional paper invite, at least opt for recycled cardstock.
The. Dress.
Every decade has a new fad with dresses. For the 80s, wedding dresses were pure poof. The late 90s and early 21st century saw the love of A-line. Fashion Week for Spring 2018 saw the rise of feathers and capes. Take the trends to the extreme with a skirt that features volumes of floaty feathers. Or choose a classic sheath with a lace cape for a luxe detail. Go floor length for the cape for optimum regality.
There are no hard and fast rules regarding your dress, because…it’s YOUR dress. Feel like the showstopper that you are and show skin with a two piece wedding ensemble. Or opt for a nontraditional shorter dress. Skip white and wear a killer color like red or pink. Wear what makes you feel most beautiful!
Dinner & Dancing
The reception is the time for the couple’s personality to really show. Make the food something that you both love. Skip the same old banquet food and choose a spread that really showcases individual tastes. Family style serving options for guests and even food trucks are becoming incredibly popular. Food Trucks allow for couples to add a quirky element to their ambiance and also provide guests with unique dinner choices. Family style serving allows guests to interact easily and also creates a warm atmosphere that works well with homestyle-inspired menus (think comfort foods!).
Liven up the party with a DJ and a band…yes, many couples are booking both. Plan a techno-crazy disco late into the night. If you really want the party to go wild, get the wedding party some light up dance gloves! And make sure to encourage friends to capture their own silly memories by hosting a photo booth.
Create a day that is unforgettable and perfect. Whatever you plan—from the colors to the food—make sure everything is 100 percent purely you. Then the day will absolutely slay #IDoGoals.
