What Makes the Halo Diamond Rings the Popular Engagement Rings?

There are quite a few engagement ring styles that we find in a jewelry store these days. Each and every ring design caters a specific set of people and are popular in their own way. Most of the articles or posts discuss the ways of choosing the perfect ring for a bride. However, in this article, we are going to focus on an engagement ring which has become a very popular choice among the brides for her grooms.

These are the halo diamond rings. Let us have a brief discussion about these type of rings and what makes them very popular.

Overview of the Halo Diamond Ring

The halo diamond ring style provides a variety of options to an individual for customizing and personalizing the engagement ring. There are quite a few options that can be used for creating the big diamond looks. A high-carat diamond that is used in a halo setting will look even more enormous. In a halo setting, a center gemstone is completely surrounded by the smaller accent diamonds that makes the ring dazzle. A few of the halo designs that feature the cushion shaped or the traditional round diamonds are very popular because of the romantic vintage inspired look.

It was during the 1920s when the halo engagement rings first came into existence. Due to their increasing popularity, the halo rings have become the second most favored engagement ring after the solitaire. The halo rings are in somewhat way similar to the solitaire with an added style.

Classic Halo Ring Designs

One of the most popular and evergreen halo ring design is one that has a big center stone which is supported by a clean and narrow band. Along with this, a round center diamond that is surrounded by the colorless stones on a platinum or gold ring also looks great.

The part of the shank, wrapping around the finger can be paved or even left bare. If the stones are used on the shank then their counts should be same on both the sides that will create a symmetry. However, it doesn’t matter if the ring is paved or not as the ring will give a classic halo look.

Halo Ring Customization Options

  • Color of the Pave

There are a number of gemstones that will enable you to give a custom look to your halo ring. These contrasting gemstones can be outrageous or subtle. Depending on your choice you can choose any of them. However, some of the attractive options for the pave include rubies and sapphires circling a colorless diamond. It can be the other way round also where the colorless diamonds surround a vivid center stone.

  • Number of the Halos

The classic single halo design has now become double and triple. In the triple halo design, there are three rows of paving stone that will circle the center stone. These pave circles will make the ring look bigger in size. It would be better to use the triple halo design if the center stone is very small.

  • Pave the Shank

Firstly. It all depends on an individual’s preference as to what type of design he likes. A Shank that has not been paved will lead to a much cleaner design, however, if you want to add a bling to the ring then paving the shank is the way to go. Just don’t circle the entire the entire shank as it would make it difficult to resize the ring. Also, a jeweler can also cut and open a metal at a later stage if it is needed to.

Halo Rings Complement the Different Shapes

Along with being a fashion trend, halo engagement rings perfectly complement the different designs. All the designs like the Oval, Princess, Asscher and Round Stones. A number of people who have become a fan of the Halo rings are because of their clean geometric shapes.

In The End

There are quite a few reasons that make the halo engagement rings so popular. The addition of the small paves that increase the overall shine of the diamond are among the top reasons that make halo rings the first choice over other wedding ring options. The cost of a halo ring is also less when compared with that of a solitaire. These rings also take up more space on the finger which is perfect for all those want their ring to stand out and gain attention. The halo diamond rings have become the first choice for a number of brides who are looking to buy an engagement ring for their future husband.

The couple finally wed after actually meeting at someone else’s wedding. A Winter Elegance themed wedding saw their special day incorporating Stacey’s Jewish heritage throughout and hosted in a beautiful timber book barn at Bendooley Estate (NSW, Australia.)

Stacey always joked about running through an AFL banner on her big day and her and Michael bonded over their love of football – he a bombers supporter and she a swan’s, so her favourite part of the day was running through the banner at the reception reading ‘TWO TEAMS, ONE LOVE. STACEY & HOBBSY.’

See the beauty of the winter elegance wedding! You may even get amazing inspiration from them! Remember to check their wedding details.

The Wedding Details

How did you and your partner meet?

We met at a wedding in Melbourne. An old school friend of mine was marrying Michael’s cousin. Michael’s sister had planned to set him up with another old school friend at the wedding but when she introduced them the match was not meant to be and Michael & I ended up chatting for the most of the night. At the very end of the wedding I saw Michael striding over to me out of the corner of my eye and I was overcome with butterflies. He asked for my number and a date once we were both back in Sydney and the rest as they say is history.

How did he propose?

Michael surprised me with a helicopter ride from Hamilton Island to Hayman Island where we spent the day relaxing by the pool at the One & Only resort. That night he organised a private dinner on the beach and he got down on one knee under a super moon with the waves lapping beside us and proposed. Funny side note: the super moon meant the tide came in a lot quicker than expected and by the end of dinner we were basically sitting in the ocean! We then spent the rest of the week sailing around the Whitsundays and basking in engaged bliss!

How did you choose your wedding gown?

I had been looking for a wedding dress for a while and just didn’t feel like anything I tried on was ‘The One’. I kept expecting to have some kind of holy moment when I would try a dress on that would give me the sign that it was ‘The dress’. I happened to visit Savvy Brides in Sydney on a weekend when Erin Clare was having a trunk show of her collection there and I immediately fell in love with ‘The’ dress. It was made even more special to have Erin herself there so talk everything through. Erin made the dress to fit my measurements and I ended up going up to her studio in Noosa for a dress fitting which was a surprise getaway with my mum that I organised for her birthday. While I was having my dress fitting Erin showed me a veil that she had made to match my dress design and not already having found a veil, I knew I had to have it. It was a wonderful and very special experience to deal directly with my dress designer and really made the whole experience quite unique.

What sort of style did you envision for your wedding day?

‘Winter Elegance’ – a roaring fire, a beautiful timber book barn, cosy and oozing with love.

What was your favorite moment from the day?

Running through our AFL banner (with the song Holy Grail by Hunters and Collectors playing) into the horas (Jewish dancing that the function begins with).

The banner read “TWO TEAMS, ONE LOVE. STACE & HOBBSY”.

Michael and I bonded over our mutual love of footy and he is a bombers supporter while I am a swan’s supporter. We were both raised on football and I had always joked that I would run through an AFL banner on my wedding day. I had it made by a banner maker in Victoria and shipped to Sydney for the big day.

Also – The groom secretly organised a flash mob for me with his groomsmen (to ‘I want it that way’ by the Backstreet Boys). A few months before the wedding the best man was in a scooter accident and broke his ankle. He was adamant that he would still be able to perform the dance on the night…. And that he did – walking stick, limp and all like a total superstar!

I had no idea what Michael had planned (and choreographed!) and was totally shocked and amazed and laughed hysterically with joy and surprise throughout the whole performance.

Any DIY décor elements?

Our individual, personalised origami paper ‘fortune tellers’ designed, printed and folded by Michael & I were used as an all-in-one place setting, menu and message to guests. We painstakingly printed, cut out and folded 150 individual origami pieces but it was worth it to see the curiosity and delight on our guest’s faces when they opened and read them and realised we had made them all especially for each one of them.

We sourced vases of various shapes, sizes and colours (blue, crystal and gold) from various variety stores and op shops for the table flowers and I made the table numbers from old classic looking children’s books tied together in a bundle to create a holder for the table number.

We also set up a photo booth table with Polaroid cameras, an album and pens for guests to take photos and leave a note as a memory of the night.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change?

Nothing!…… except I would do it earlier so my grandmother could have been there. She was too unwell on the day to come to the wedding and passed away shortly afterwards and I will always think that I shouldn’t have waited a year. Time really is so very precious.

Any tips that you can give to future brides?

Be true to yourselves and chip away at it every week ahead of the wedding. Do your research! There are plenty of DIY projects and fun things you can do together or with friends for the wedding that really give it a personal touch and will definitely save you a lot of money! If there is something you realllly want, be as inventive and creative as you can to achieve it.

As stressful as the wedding planning was sometimes, we were really happy in the end that we had planned the whole wedding ourselves. It meant that our wedding was a true representation of who we are as a couple. The whole day was everything we could have ever imagined and more!

Anything else you’d like to add?

I (Stacey) am Jewish so it was very important to both myself and Michael to incorporate as many of the Jewish traditions into the ceremony as we could. We were married under a chuppah (Jewish wedding canopy) borrowed from a friend who was also married under it,  we were both walked down the aisle by both parents, I circled Michael seven times as I entered the chuppah, family members said the seven Jewish wedding blessings, we drank wine from my grandparent’s kiddish wine cup (from my grandparent’s own wedding in 1948), Michael smashed the glass to conclude the ceremony, we signed a traditional Ketubah (Jewish marriage contract); and we danced the horas at the beginning of the wedding function (which were sung by a close friend of ours.

To top it off our close friend Leor became a celebrant especially so he would marry us. It was an incredibly generous and heartfelt gift that we will be forever humbled and grateful for.

Having family and friends involved in the whole day was something that was very important to both of us.

Planning the Bachelorette Party: To Travel or Not to Travel?

Bachelorette party. Hen party. Stagette. There are almost as many terms for this pre-nuptial soirée as there are forms it can take. While bachelorette parties have always been a way for women to celebrate female sexuality and friendship, the modern bachelorette party is hardly limited to a bawdy night on the town. More and more bridal parties are opting to make the bachelorette party a destination affair, with trips to exotic locales and relaxing retreats. How do you know if a destination bachelorette party is right for you? Here are four things to consider when deciding between a local or far-away affair.

What You Want

The biggest factor in where you hold your bachelorette party is what you want. Some brides-to-be may wish for nothing more than a weekend away, but for other brides, traveling shortly before the wedding could feel like just one more thing to stress out about.

Even when you do decide to travel, there are countless destinations to choose from. Do you want a laid-back weekend at the beach or a glamorous night in the city? A glamping adventure or a tour of an epic historical landmark? Your bachelorette party can be anything you want it to be, you just have to decide.

The Cost

The bride-to-be’s costs for attending the bachelorette party are traditionally picked up by the maid of honor and other attendees, so this event shouldn’t cut into your wedding planning budget. However, you still need to consider the finances of the other attendees. If most of the bridal party has to travel for the wedding itself, flying to a bachelorette party destination as well could be too much to ask. However, if the bridesmaids’ costs aren’t too high or they have disposable income they’re happy to part with, a party in an exotic location can take the celebration to the next level.

The Guest List

If your bachelorette party will include your bridal party, sisters and cousins, old high school friends, and sorority sisters, trying to make it a destination event may be simply too much. Not only will making reservations at restaurants, spas, and other attractions be a hassle, but it’s unlikely that everyone will be able to attend. On the other hand, if you want the hen party to be an intimate affair for your closest friends, traveling may be the best way to keep it exclusive without hurting anyone’s feelings.

The Preparations

It should come as no surprise that a destination bachelorette party will take a lot more planning than a local get-together, but you might be surprised at just how many details must be considered. Not only will lodging, restaurant, and other outings need to be reserved, but you’ll need to figure out how everyone will get from place to place (especially if you’re drinking), whether you’ll eat every meal out or buy ingredients to prep at the hotel, and what you’ll do in your downtime. To make sure everyone is prepared, the party planner has to let guests know everything from what they’re expected to pay to how to dress for different outings.

One easily overlooked preparation is making sure homes are secured before you depart. Leaving a house unattended even for a short weekend trip leaves it vulnerable to a break-in, and nothing adds to pre-wedding stress like a home invasion. Remind everyone to lock all their doors and windows, use timers to maintain the appearance of an inhabited home, and stop mail service for the duration of the trip. Refrain from advertising the dates of your party on social media, and encourage attendees to install a home security system to deter crime.

Planning a destination bachelorette party is no easy feat, but the payoff is well worth the trouble. After all, what could be a better send off into marital bliss than the adventure of a lifetime with all your closest friends?

Wedding Vendor Communication Problem

This question came in from a potential client.. check it out.

I’m not personally having this problem, since I’m not at this stage of planning right now, but what do you do if a vendor doesn’t get back to you? You get in contact with them, set things up and everything is going well, but then when you need to be updated, they won’t answer you? Has anyone had this problem before? If so, what did you do about it? I like to ask in advance in case something like this happens.

You got engaged. Yay! Then you start with wedding planning. Vendors picked and contracts signed. Everything is running smoothly on the first few weeks but all of sudden, updates just stopped coming.

Wait! What? Oh no no no, don’t panic! Breathe. Count 1 to 10. Get yourself composed. Read below.

  1. Review your contract. Go over the prefered mode of communication. If via email, send an email. If via phone call, give them a call. If still no reply, proceed to #2.
  2. Keep planning and moving on while waiting for a reply. Give them at least 3 days to get back at you. However, while doing so, make sure you are still working on the other details. If after the waiting period, there still is no reply, don’t lose hope, you can do #3.
  3. Give them an ultimatum to reply within the next day. You should emphasize the urgency of the reply from them. When this time lapses and nothing came through, it’s about time to do #4.
  4. Visit their office or shop. Sit down with them.Be nice to ask what improvements they can do in regards updating you. Make sure you’ve agreed at everything.

Everything can be resolved with an honest to goodness conversation. However, if none of the above worked, then it is a sign for you to find new vendors.

Real Wedding: Mallorie + Taylor’s Texan Wedding

Taylor is a chef so he cooked all of the food and was able to smoke the brisket at The Porch where he works in advance. We helped a few friends with their weddings so they were amazing with returning the favor and setting the food out for us and watching it throughout the evening. (Ethan and Bonnie Phillips) Smoked brisket, smoked ham Mac and cheese, fingerling potato salad, mixed greens with blood orange vinaigrette, assorted homegrown pickled veggies, home fermented hot sauce, bbq sauce. The best part of the food for us was that we were able to grow all of the pickles and peppers for Taylor to make the hot sauce and pickles with! The only thing Taylor didn’t have his hands on was my fish. I am a pescatarian so unfortunately couldn’t eat the brisket.” – Mallorie

Mallorie was able to keep her wedding on a budget by shopping in unique places to get good quality items at an affordable price. Her wedding dress is Allure Bridals which was purchased on a Lakewood Facebook Yardsale. Alterations were done at Martha’s Alterations. The seamstress transformed the dress into something
that was magical! Originally, it was way too large and she made it fit like a glove! Mallorie’s shoes were purchased on Amazon and was Betsey Johnson but above all they were something blue! Her old and borrowed was Taylor’s grandmothers Bracelet that was passed down to Taylor’s Mother. It was a special treat for Mallorie
to take part in the heirloom.

Now on to a few groom details… Taylor wore a Combatant Gentleman suit paired with a tie from The Tie Bar. His shoes were Meermin Mallorca. He spoiled his groomsmen with Timex watches all with different bands. The
couple thought it would be fun to give the guys their favorite band t shirts to wear as undershirts. The groomsmen loved the personal thank you gift!

Mallorie couldn’t have celebrated with out her ‘maids by her side! She went with these VonVonni Bridesmaid dresses for the simple reason that all the dresses were the same and are able to transform into so many different looks!

“ Dawn Robinson made the most beautiful bouquets I have ever seen! My mom and Dawn have been best friends since they were 17 years old. She was one of the biggest power players in making this whole thing happen. My friend Katie Klein and I picked out flowers from The Flower Market. I made Taylor’s boutineer and
Katie made the rest. I put way too many projects on my plate and so many people swooped in to help finish them all.” – Mallorie

There were quite a few DIY and budget savy project Mallorie and her family took on. Mallorie saw a picture of a cake topper and decided she could make it herself, so she did and it turned out great! A close friend, Mallory Uvere makes cakes and cupcakes so she helped create the desserts for the evening. Mallorie bought the plates from a local wedding Facebook page. It just so happened that the woman selling the plates is a caterer. Mallorie shared her dilemma of the wedding coordinator quitting so she offered to step in. The box the ring bearer was holding was upgraded with a few DIY accessories. Mallorie used corks from random bottles in the house and hot glued them in as holders.

“I saw a similar altar on Pinterest and made it. I bought the wood and stained it. Hung lace curtains and put together some bouquets from craft store flowers. I took the birdcage from my backyard decor and it turned out beautiful! I put it up in my yard and realized I made it for a giant at first lol. Luckilly my sister threw a crafting bridal shower and one of my gifts was a full size Dremmel Saw-Max so I easily cut it down to normal person height. I bought used shepherds hooks and attached mason jars using ribbon. We then filled them with babies breath.”, Mallorie discussing her Do It Yourself Altar project.

Wine Box- I bought the box at Hobby lobby and cut corks and got glued them in to hold it steady in the box. The corks are from the wine we drank the day we got engaged. 🙂 We enclosed letters in the box and we will open them and drink the wine on our first anniversary.

From the small details such as Table name cards to the big details like the altar and aisle, Mallorie and taylor cut down the costs by making the decor and wedding necessities by hand or purchased and resurfaced. The couple was lucky enough to be surrounded by talented and giving people that used their talents to assist in making their wedding the best it could be! The DJ, the officiant, and a few other key
pieces of the night were good friends. It definitely made for a night of appreciation, love, gratitude, and togetherness!

Mallorie and Taylor saved on their honeymoon in a smart way! They attended their neighbors wedding in Colorado and then stayed with them to have a couples retreat in Colorado before heading back home
