Real Wedding: Mallorie + Taylor’s Texan Wedding

Taylor is a chef so he cooked all of the food and was able to smoke the brisket at The Porch where he works in advance. We helped a few friends with their weddings so they were amazing with returning the favor and setting the food out for us and watching it throughout the evening. (Ethan and Bonnie Phillips) Smoked brisket, smoked ham Mac and cheese, fingerling potato salad, mixed greens with blood orange vinaigrette, assorted homegrown pickled veggies, home fermented hot sauce, bbq sauce. The best part of the food for us was that we were able to grow all of the pickles and peppers for Taylor to make the hot sauce and pickles with! The only thing Taylor didn’t have his hands on was my fish. I am a pescatarian so unfortunately couldn’t eat the brisket.” – Mallorie

Mallorie was able to keep her wedding on a budget by shopping in unique places to get good quality items at an affordable price. Her wedding dress is Allure Bridals which was purchased on a Lakewood Facebook Yardsale. Alterations were done at Martha’s Alterations. The seamstress transformed the dress into something
that was magical! Originally, it was way too large and she made it fit like a glove! Mallorie’s shoes were purchased on Amazon and was Betsey Johnson but above all they were something blue! Her old and borrowed was Taylor’s grandmothers Bracelet that was passed down to Taylor’s Mother. It was a special treat for Mallorie
to take part in the heirloom.

Now on to a few groom details… Taylor wore a Combatant Gentleman suit paired with a tie from The Tie Bar. His shoes were Meermin Mallorca. He spoiled his groomsmen with Timex watches all with different bands. The
couple thought it would be fun to give the guys their favorite band t shirts to wear as undershirts. The groomsmen loved the personal thank you gift!

Mallorie couldn’t have celebrated with out her ‘maids by her side! She went with these VonVonni Bridesmaid dresses for the simple reason that all the dresses were the same and are able to transform into so many different looks!

“ Dawn Robinson made the most beautiful bouquets I have ever seen! My mom and Dawn have been best friends since they were 17 years old. She was one of the biggest power players in making this whole thing happen. My friend Katie Klein and I picked out flowers from The Flower Market. I made Taylor’s boutineer and
Katie made the rest. I put way too many projects on my plate and so many people swooped in to help finish them all.” – Mallorie

There were quite a few DIY and budget savy project Mallorie and her family took on. Mallorie saw a picture of a cake topper and decided she could make it herself, so she did and it turned out great! A close friend, Mallory Uvere makes cakes and cupcakes so she helped create the desserts for the evening. Mallorie bought the plates from a local wedding Facebook page. It just so happened that the woman selling the plates is a caterer. Mallorie shared her dilemma of the wedding coordinator quitting so she offered to step in. The box the ring bearer was holding was upgraded with a few DIY accessories. Mallorie used corks from random bottles in the house and hot glued them in as holders.

“I saw a similar altar on Pinterest and made it. I bought the wood and stained it. Hung lace curtains and put together some bouquets from craft store flowers. I took the birdcage from my backyard decor and it turned out beautiful! I put it up in my yard and realized I made it for a giant at first lol. Luckilly my sister threw a crafting bridal shower and one of my gifts was a full size Dremmel Saw-Max so I easily cut it down to normal person height. I bought used shepherds hooks and attached mason jars using ribbon. We then filled them with babies breath.”, Mallorie discussing her Do It Yourself Altar project.

Wine Box- I bought the box at Hobby lobby and cut corks and got glued them in to hold it steady in the box. The corks are from the wine we drank the day we got engaged. 🙂 We enclosed letters in the box and we will open them and drink the wine on our first anniversary.

From the small details such as Table name cards to the big details like the altar and aisle, Mallorie and taylor cut down the costs by making the decor and wedding necessities by hand or purchased and resurfaced. The couple was lucky enough to be surrounded by talented and giving people that used their talents to assist in making their wedding the best it could be! The DJ, the officiant, and a few other key
pieces of the night were good friends. It definitely made for a night of appreciation, love, gratitude, and togetherness!

Mallorie and Taylor saved on their honeymoon in a smart way! They attended their neighbors wedding in Colorado and then stayed with them to have a couples retreat in Colorado before heading back home

A Royal Garden Affair Styled Shoot

We’re bringing you another magical styled shoot from Samantha Bonpensiero Photography today. She stunned us again with her vision of a glamorous wedding without all the bling. In this styled shoot, it is ALL about the delicate details… the petite desserts, the white-lace fingerless gloves, the chandeliers, textured flowers, and the unexpected pampas grass (dyed lavender)… will make any girl feel like a princess getting married in her private English garden.

The breathtaking centerpiece and matching bouquet are filled with all sorts of  soft pastel colors and textures. Notice the centerpiece is hung by small chandeliers? I can totally just picture how it lights up the table as the day gets darker. Multi-colored hydrangea at the base of the vase adds more color and texture to this English garden on the table.

From the photographer:

“At one point or another every girl wants to be a princess. For some, that point is their wedding day and this styled shoot is a little glimpse into a tasteful (rhinestone-less) way to feel like royalty on your big day. Delicate details like dripping chandeliers, cut crystal, simple china, colored depression glass, and satin & sheer ribbons brought out the sophistication for this scene. Playful desserts, highly textural pastel flowers, and an incredibly lovely rose garden lighten the seriousness of being a princess. Our favorite flowers of the day were a toss up between the giant pampas grass (dyed lavender), graceful ballerina-like tulips, and luscious multicolored hydrangeas. Our royal garden affair menu was a mix of petite treats and elegantly decorated (albeit faux) cakes. Above All Catering also helped set us up with Signature Party Rentals who provided us with the beautiful table linens as well as a giant round table that fit perfectly into the center of the rose garden. Our model Taylor was a perfectly regal bride, with her sassy attitude, hair piled high with jewels and curls. She was dripping with jewels and two decadent dresses – one in pale pink complete with tulle and floral details and one in a rich and heavy silky satin with a gorgeous lace up back and tiny jewels.”

Jasmine + Ryan’s Simple and Sweet Wedding

Bride in a yellow dress.  That’s all that Claire Roeth from Rouxby Photo had to say for me to know I’d be instantly in love!  Set at the base of the Rocky Mountains amidst wildflowers and perfect sunshine, Jasmine + Ryan’s budget friendly Colorado wedding will surely having you beaming!

From the photographer:

The bride and groom had a limited budget and really worked to have a fabulous wedding within their constraints.  They had a late morning ceremony and early afternoon reception with lunch, pie and ice cream the bride made from scratch herself, and lawn games.  Wildflowers and an assortment of other seasonal flowers graced the bride’s bouquet and all the tables in the reception area.  The bride jarred local honey as a gift for guests.  Every detail was either made by the couple themselves or by close friends.

Simply fabulous indeed!  From Jasmine’s yellow dress to the last twine wrapped bottle this wedding is rustic perfection!  Thank you Claire Roeth at Rouxby Photo for sharing this sweet soiree.  Congratulations Jasmine and Ryan!

Hilary + Kevin’s Pink Backyard Wedding

Consider me floored.  I mean it’s tough not to be in love with this beautiful garden wedding.  Bathed in everything girly and pink while keeping it a touch rustic for the country boy groom?  Well, this wedding is just drop-dead-gorgeous!  Throw in some fantastic photos from Lizzie Loo Photography that captured the importance of family and smiles and it’s a total Wedding Alert.  As in: “I’ve fallen and I can’t can’t get up to stop staring.”  🙂

Besides the contagious smiles and apparent love Hilary and Kevin share their love is only matched by their love for their friends fam.  It can be seen in every last photo and in every corner of the wedding.  (and did you count the size of this bridal party?) Hilary handcrafted the hairpieces for her maids and herself.   She also was the creatrix of the darling flower girl tutus and their headpieces as well (so ADORBS!)  From the trees to the table top all the decor was crafted by Hilary.  I could gush for days over the floral pomanders at ceremony, and the paper ones at the reception were pretty spot on too!  The simple centerpiece arrangements were more than just some gorge flowers and vases, those barrel lids were refinished by Hilary and Kevin themselves.   Every last sign is a sign that the love runs deep in this fam.  Held on Hilary’s aunt and uncle’s property, their ceremony was performed by Hilary’s aunt and Kevin’s uncle, and the fete was even catered by Hilary’s cousin.

Thanks Lizzie Loo Photography for sharing this pretty in pink wedding!  Congratulation Hilary + Kevin!

Leslie + Ashley’s Intimate Sunset Wedding

Sometimes, love finds you at an unexpected moment.  For Leslie and Ashley, even though he was Leslie’s first kiss, the love bug only bit after a long time friendship led them back to one another.  This I do; take two was the perfect combination of full circle love, the joining of two beautiful families, and of course some killer DIY.  Mark Dickinson Photography was there to snap up the super sweet day and all of the lovely details.

The beautiful mason jars lining the aisle, a stunning sunset, all highlighting Leslie’s birdcage veil are simply divine!  For those of you looking for some silk floral inspiration, be sure to study these amazing bouquets created by Leslie’s MIL and decorated with some of her own jewelry.  Did you check out those ridiculous vintage rings?  Daytona Estate Jewelry created them from antique diamonds and vintage platinum bands.  Most of all Mark Dickinson Photography captured how two families became one, from their very special children, to Ashley’s officiant father, and even his grandmother who was in hospital care via FaceTime.  The entire gallery by Mark Dickinson is simply swoon worthy!

Thanks Mark Dickinson Photography for sharing this sunset spectacular!  Congratulations Leslie, Ashley, and your beautiful family!

Liz + James Boston Engagement Session

Although I’m a die-hard New Yorker, I have a little obsession with the city of Boston.  It has maintained it’s small town vibe among the skyscrapers and hustle and bustle.  So when Prudente Photography shared this little love shoot with us, it only took  me a city minute to fall in love.  A city with equal amounts of garden, concrete, and cute coffee shop backgrounds depending on which corner you turn, the one thing that stands out in this shoot is that Liz and James’ love stands out from it all!  (And the pretty pinwheel backdrop of one of our favorite shops, Paper Source, kind of stood out too.)

Just like Bean Town, these two are the perfect blend of modern and classic.  Capturing every sweet gaze and superb spring lighting, Prudente Photography has created a gallery of pretty that not only do justice to this fantastic city, but to Liz and James’ devotion!  Thanks Prudente Photography!  Congratulations Liz and James!

Amanda + Ryan’s Whimsical Picnic Wedding

Since so many of us will be holding a last hurrah picnic with our nearest and dearest this weekend, I thought it only fit to share a picnic wedding with you all today too!  Woo hoo!!  Labor Day Bonus!  This is no ordinary picnic though.  Inspired by Grandma’s groovy buttons and strawberry lemonade, featuring puppies, pink dining blankets, pinwheels, and penny lawn games and a runaway groom (more on that in a minute), this whimsy and fun lawn party captured so beautifully by M.A. Rose Photography is the kind of inspiration that of those you planning a festive lawn fete for next summer should start taking notes to remember all of these great ideas!

Now beyond all of whimsical and fun deets Amanda fashioned like her gorgeous hairpiece and necklace from her grandmother’s button jar as her “something old, ” and all of the paper pinwheels for the decor, bouquets, and bouts, the goal of this artistry was two-fold. From the bride, Amanda:

The two most important aspects to me was that all my guests have fun, and that the wedding reflects our values and lifestyle. As artists, DIY enthusiasts, and environmentalists this meant making choices that would limit the impact we were having on the environment and minimizing waste as well as making it beautiful and fun.

And what an amazing job these two have done!  I don’t know about you, but this vegan spread looks as pretty as it does delicious!  And topping it off some homemade mason jar apple pie?  Mmmmm…Yes, please and thank you!!  Full of yummy, personal details and eco-friendly fun Amanda and Ryan have a perfect picnic wedding tri-fecta!

So what about the runaway groom, you may be asking?  Well a certain groom may have been saying “Lego my vows” to his car where he left his vows and had to make a fast getaway (and comeback) in the middle of the ceremony.  It’s pretty clear that Amanda + Ryan are one happy and lucky couple to have each other- Congratulations!!!  M.A.Rose Photography was also one lucky photog to have this much picnic fun and we are one lucky blog to get to share this gorgeous gallery with you today!  As a double awesome bonus- Amanda and Ryan shared their music choices which we love to hear!

Musical Choices:

Processional- “Just Breathe”, Pearl Jam

Recessional- “Fine By Me”, Andy Grammer

First Dance- “Keep on Loving You”, REO Speedwagon

Krystyn + Matt’s Garden-Style Waterfront Wedding

Oh Canada!  You have outdone yourself.  Warning!  Prepare your pin fingers people.  This one’s a beaute!

A Brit & A Blonde photgraphers have done such a fabulous job capturing Krystyn and Matt’s outdoor garden wedding on Lake Rosseau that it will have you wondering why they call it “Great White North.”  It should just be Great.  A Brit & A Blonde summed up this wedding weekend perfectly calling it “A really sweet cottage feel with garden party fun. Muskoka is one of those places where Canadians love escaping the city and enjoying pure cottage country life and air.”  I know I certainly wouldn’t mind escaping to Windermere House after seeing these shots.

The bride Krystyn added the perfect touches of vintage garden party to the day taking care of all of the paper and design details herself.   I highly recommend viewing the entire gallery for some serious pretty. (I must say I am drooling over the glittery Kate Spade’s.  I mean glitter and shoes?! Does it get any better?)

A couple of awe inspiring DIY creations from the breathtaking and stylish bride herself that are absolute must-sees are the phenomenal moss covered initials and table number, the lace embroidery circles over the dessert table, and the punched tin can candle holder centerpieces on the cocktail tables.

It doesn’t end there.  The birch place card settings are the perfect earthy balance to the other natural, vintage elements.  And those photo fans at the ceremony…um, love them!  I know many will be asking about the “love is sweet” and “happily ever after” books, so for the record, those the bride purchased on Etsy.  These and the florals created by Seasons in the Country, worked in perfect harmony Krystyn’s super star status DIY projects.

Congratulations Krystyn and Matt!

Michael + Emily’s Inspirational Purple Wedding

Talk about a super nifty way to meet your spouse – Emily and Michael met white water rafting. Michael was an instructor on the New River in West Virginia, and when they were settling on a place to get married they selected the Confluence Resort – right at the junction of New River and Gauley River.

This is where I swoon. ::sigh:: I just think it’s so romantic to return to the place where your relationship began to pledge your lives and love to one another with your family and friends.

There are also horses! And a dog! And some of the most adorable flower girls I’ve ever seen.

Described by their photographer as “amazing, resourceful, earthy and adventurous,” Emily and Michael were the creative force behind all the details of their wedding day. The decor, including flowers, signs, and memory table were made by the couple. They also crafted the welcome bags for their guests and gorgeous wooden ring boxes for their ceremony.
