First of all, Happy New Year and a big, big, big CONGRATULATIONS to all the newly engaged brides. A third of all marriage proposals happen over the Christmas and New Year holidays, so this is an especially exciting time of year. I can’t wait to see what 2012 brings in terms of creativity and enthusiasm from all the DIY brides out there. You inspire us just as much as (if not more than) we hope to inspire you.
We’re starting the new year off with the nuptials of Sean and Danielle. They chose a backyard wedding ceremony and reception, and Danielle infused her fantastic sense of style into the flowers, menu, chalkboard signs, and almost every other DIY detail. I’m especially digging on her use of copper in the colors of the day, since it’s not a color you see very often and I’m a sucker for the unique. Danielle and Sean also had the good luck of having rain at the end of their wedding day – after all, a wet knot is nearly impossible to untie. Some cultures also believe rain on your special days means your marriage will be fertile with love.
