With fall in full swing we thought this centerpiece would be the perfect and simple way to incorporate pumpkins into your wedding. Not having a fall wedding? These would also be a great addition to your Thanksgiving tablescape or as a front porch decoration.
Supplies
- Knife- To remove the top of the pumpkin.
- Pumpkin- Any size would work, but we chose small pumpkin pie pumpkins.
- Flowers- We used an assortment of fall colored flowers.
Time
- 15-20 minutes
Difficulty
- An easy activity for all!
First you will need to cut the top off of the pumpkin. We cut right below the stem and left most of the pumpkin intact. No need to scrape the insides of the pumpkin! This will help keep the flower stems in place.
Next, trim all of your flowers so that they fit inside of the pumpkin. We found that the closer the flowers were to the opening of the pumpkin the better the arrangement looked.
Now it is time to start arranging! Tip* When arranging flowers, choose what will be your focal point and build around it. We chose sunflowers as our center. You also will want some height to add dimension to your arrangement. That’s where the gladiolus came into use. Also, don’t be afraid to use the greens that come with the flowers as well. Finally, be sure you are turing your piece as you work so you can ensure it looks great from all angles.
I love the way this turned out! They were so easy and my front porch looks so fall and festive.
