Location: Welch, MN, US
Event Date: Aug 24, 2018
Name: ♀Samantha Lee & ♂Robbie Likes
Samantha and Robbie were married at Legacy Hill Farm. It rained and rained most of the day. I know most people wouldn’t consider it beautiful, but, oh my goodness, through my lens I couldn’t have pictured a more perfect day! The color pallet was muted colors, which was perfect for the farm and the rain.
The couple opted not to do a first look prior to the ceremony, so the moment Samantha walked down the aisle the emotions were flowing.
Guests at the wedding enjoyed a fajita’s bar along with cupcakes for desserts.

Q1: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
A1: Our inspiration was romantic, soft, elegant but simple! I incorporated natural greenery and used neutral greens, off whites and greys to set the mood I had been dreaming of.No cultural or religious traditions were used.We stuck to a very modern and contemporary style ceremony.
Q2: Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
A2: The main back drop were handmade dreamcatchers that in the center were doilies made by my great grandma. It was a perfect way to include her in our special day since she is no longer with us. We used soft white airy cheese cloth down the center of the natural wooden tables along with gold candle votives to create a natural setting.
Q3: What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
A3: We incorporated flowers in every way we possible could. I ordered the flowers from Kukka and they arrived on my door step two days before our wedding. This allowed me to customize everything and make it exactly how I wanted. My family and I created the bouquets, centerpieces, garlands and boutineers the day before my wedding. Flowers played a huge part in our wedding and I think they help set the mood and tone and create a romantic feeling for you and your guests.
Q4: Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
A4: We absolutely LOVE Mexican food. We eat it multiple times a week! So, we thought what else would we rather have at our wedding?!We served chips and salsa during cocktail hours and fajitas for dinner. It was a fun way to bring one of our favorite meals to our wedding day and its something we will never forget!
Q5: Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.
A5: I knew I wanted a lacey, bohemian, formed fitting dress. So, after I found “the one” I knew Robbie needed to be in grey to help create the look and vibe I was trying to create.
Q6: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
A6: We met through a mutual friend in college. We were friends for a few years before we started dating. We started dating about 5 years ago now and our first date was at the Lake Elmo Inn around Valentines day. Ever since, we have celebrated a special occasion there each year. In April, 2017 Robbie wanted to celebrate his birthday there, so of course I was happy to do so. We celebrated with lots of wine, dinner and dessert. As we were leaving, it was pouring rain out and I told Robbie to go get the car, he told me no(doesn’t happen too often, ha)! So, I put my hood up and ran to the truck with him getting soaking wet. As I was getting in, I turned around and he was down on one knee! I literally COULD NOT believe it, I had no idea. It was the best surprise and I can’t wait to celebrate all of our upcoming anniversaries together at the Lake Elmo Inn.
Q7: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
A7: We chose not to do a first look. The anticipation throughout the day waiting for that moment when my parents would walk me down the aisle to marry the man of my dreams was seriously the best. It’s definitely a moment I will never forget and the look on Robbie’s face will forever be close to my heart.
Q8: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
A8: Since I have only been married a short two weeks, I don’t have much advice to offer yet, give me a year! However, enjoy every single moment of your wedding day. I heard it all the time, but its SO true. It literally goes by so fast (probably the fastest day of my life so far). Soak it all up and be in the moment!
