In the words of Maria and Brian:
We wanted our wedding day to share our story as a couple, represent the life we created together, and celebrate our love with an intimate and informal setting with our closest friends and family.
We first discovered Wickham Park because of their Disk Golf Course and fell in love with the park. Brian proposed to me in the park while playing one October day and we knew this was the exact spot we wanted to say our vows. We wanted the natural views to be our décor rather than over-the-top decorations; Wickham Park had the perfect backdrop of gorgeous trees, rolling grassy hills, and numerous gardens for such a celebration.
We are laid back couple that enjoys hiking, camping, rock climbing, and biking, so it was important to us to having our wedding showcase our love of nature. Peacocks have a sentimental value to me, so they inspired our color pallet for decorations, wedding party apparel, and invitations. I love crafting, so I created everything for the wedding, including all of the decorations, flowers, centerpieces, invitations etc.
Our menu was inspired by our love of pizza and street food. We had a brick oven pizza truck make gourmet pizza to order for our guests including clams casino, mashed potato, and marguerite pizzas! Even our simple beverages of table wines, specialty drink, and PBR beer were specially selected by us. We chose a gourmet cupcake tower prepared by Sugarbelle Cakes from Glastonbury, CT including flavors like peanut butter ganache, cookies n cream, salted caramel brownie sundae to name a few.
The vintage Dutch kissing dolls cake toppers are my most prized possessions were once my Grammy’s. She had passed away from cancer a few years before and I wanted to incorporate something to remember her since she was not able to be present.
