Natalie & Jamey’s Colorful Engagement

Engagement sessions are the perfect opportunity for you and your beloved to showcase your personalities and have a little fun. Natalie and Jamey did just that, creating a shoot that’s full of playfulness and some lovely little details like the cute miniature cake and their soon-to-be wedding bands.

Natalie and Jamey met while she was a nanny for some of Jamey’s family in Colorado. She is from Austria, he is from Cincinnati and, together they make a gorgeous and oh-so-lovely international couple.

Stephanie & Andrew’s Sweet and Traditional Fall Wedding

With a nod to a more traditional-style wedding, Stephanie and Andrew created a sweet and beautiful day for themselves.

According to photographer, Laura Elaine Photography , The DIY details for this wedding were extremely well done and present everywhere throughout the day.

The following DIY details that were done by the bride, groom and their families: The Save the Dates, Invitation Suite and Menu Cards were completely DIY. They cut and glued burlap, gold and bows onto them and really tied their theme in. The bride took kraft boxes and decorated them similar to the invitations for everyone in their bridal party. Included in that box were handmade hangers for each of the girls that were beautiful and different from the ones I see on etsy all the time. At the ceremony they had created burlap wreaths for the entrance, all of the aisle decor and the streamer sticks that all of the guests waved during their recessional. I can’t imagine the time this took! At the reception, they had made the table assignment cards, all of the table numbers and the stands, decorated all of the containers for the flowers on the tables as well. Each guest received a small mason jar of apple butter that the couple made and the lid was decorated with their thumbprints making a heart with pink paint. On the gift table they used a barrel to collect the cards and created the cute signage for it. I loved hearing that every Wednesday in the year leading up to the wedding the bride, her parents and her sister would get together and work on all of their crafts. Everything was flawless and you can definitely tell how much time they put into everything.

The love and care everyone took with the projects and details definitely shines through!

Jess + Drew’s Traditional Vintage Wedding

Hold on to your pin cushions!  We are starting off the week another amazing craftstress who tackled her own gown.  That’s right folks, Jess (with the help of her mom) homespun the fashion for this fete.  Leah Fruth shot some killer portraits in this super sweet, traditional with a touch of vintage wedding that makes Jess and Drew’s big day so perfectly classic and timeless.

Stunning is too simple of word to describe this exquisite two-piece gown! Jess’s mantilla veil is pure pe

rfection.  Throw in the brooch bouquet and bridal party jewelry that Jess put together and… Oh Mylanta!  The perfect balance of classic, vintage and personal for a refined and polished day.  The twinkling lights in the Columbus Athenaeum and the simple elegance of the paper crafts provide only some of the reasons to check out the full gallery.

Thanks Leah Fruth for capturing such a charmingly classic good time.  Congratulations Jess and Drew!

Tiffany + Tim

I can’t lie, I’m a sucker for a simple photo gallery whether it be of a wedding, engagement shoot, bridal shower, or day-after shoot (really, I love them all). Which is why I’m so taken with the engagement shoot of Tiffany and Tim. While they currently reside in Chicago, they decided to get married in their hometown of Canton in Ohio. For their engagement shoot, they kept it simple with a couple of chalkboards, the backdrop of Canton, and their love for each other.

Kristin + Andrew

Two words: pinwheels and croquet. This wedding is so whimsical and bright, it makes my little heart go pitter-pat. Kristin and Andrew’s bridesmaids carried pinwheels that were DIY’d, as was the marriage arbor. They also had cornhole and croquet lawn games to play after the ceremony, and turned an old barn into their reception site.

Allyson + Joe

One of the best pieces of advice I can give about being a DIYer is to not go overboard with your projects. Pick a few things that are meaningful to you and within your budget so that you can devote your full creativity to them without breaking your budget – or sanity. Allyson and Joe, avid backpackers, outdoorsy cabin-themed wedding showcases how choosing the right projects (for them) added splashes of personality and style to their day.
