Amanda’s Boho Bridal Session

I’m so excited to share Amanda’s bridal session with you today. If you’re not familiar, a bridal session is photo session with just for the bride in all her wedding finery that takes place prior to the wedding day. It’s a neat way to document your bridal beauty in a calm, controlled environment (‘cos, ladies, the wedding day is borderline chaos no matter how prepared you think you’ll be).

This session, of Amanda, was captured after her wedding day in a field in Oklahoma. How utterly sweet! Photographer Robyn of Robyn Icks Photography gives us the scoop:

We did Amanda’s Arcadia bridal portrait session about a month after the wedding, because well… summer is hot! And we managed to find a not so excruciating day to run through a field of wildflowers in her beautiful wedding gown. She couldn’t have been more the definition of a glowing bride on this day, just as she was on her wedding day.

Amanda and I spent the morning choosing the prettiest flowers out at Whole Foods and making the following floral crown. We had a grand time, and I’m so in love with how it turned out. We also chose five big beautiful sunflowers for her bouquet.

Heather + Charles’ Sweet Traditional Wedding

It’s easy to get lost in all of the darling deets that so many of you creatives share with us.  And I am always a big fan of bucking tradition and following the road less traveled.  But every once in while, I need a dose of good, old fashioned, family centered, make-your-heart melt love story- with some good DIY on the side, of course!  Heather + Charles’ perfectly pretty wedding captured by Lori Lee Photography is just the right helping of all of that and then some.

That adorable escort of Heather’s happens to be her son.  I love that they included him in their big day from the invites to the ring exchange.  Air Force Captain Charles even gave him a promise ring to always be a father-figure and strong force in his life.  I’ll give you some time to fan away the tears before I go into the inspiring DIY that Heather and her sister created in the year long span before the wedding

Like many of the weddings we feature here, although it’s called “Do-it-yourself” the best weddings come with little help from your friends and fam.  The three little love birds cake topper was hand sewn by Heather’s sister.   They also created the monograms on the doors, invitations, programs and menus.  Now I don’t know about you, but in my book, you can’t go wrong with edible favors; especially cookies!!!!  Heather baked over 100 cookies for her wedding day as favors, and Charles helped out by printing out the labels that would go on the cookie covers.  Yummmmm!!!!

A big thanks to Lori Lee Photography for sharing this classic and classy wedding!  Congratulations Heather and Charles!

Tessa + Grant

This afternoon we have a wedding from Blue Elephant Photography in Oklahoma, and it is just so sweet. Tessa and Grant went all out with their DIY projects, and the attention to detail shows. Tessa designed and created the invitations, assembled cake stands, collected the mason jars and attached the raffia to them with the initialed tags as well as collected the glass jars used for centerpieces, created the pomander balls for the aisle, and hand-painted 150 eggshells to hold birdseed for the guests to throw after the ceremony. They also assembled a candy buffet with a vintage feel as favors for the guests, and for their guest book had guests circle words in a dictionary that they felt best described the wedding day.
